Solid acting, but screenplay/directing was so meh

The progression of the relationship between the two was just on schedule, but you just didn't feel that growing deepness in their relationship. There were very few interesting moments that would make a narrative like this interesting to sit through.

Rebecca Hall sometimes has a kind of indifferent cold presence in her movies. Even in scenes where she is supposed to give at the end, I just felt nothing from her.

So agree.

Like you, think it's the screenplay. Up until they decided to write in the love element, the movie kind of worked. She was backwoods aloof, he an overbearing NYC type. Was it suicide or not ? II they had the courage to hold to that, it might have rung true.Find the song, write the book , honor the memory, friends at the end.
