I am sorry for the people that like this show. But, lets be honest it is not that good and nowhere near being good. MJF is the only high point of the show after that, I would say the person that plays the daughter. From there on they can get rid of the rest of the cast and replaces them with Billy goats at least that would be funny. But, if they chose to keep it around there are some things that need to change. Get rid of the sister. RRecast the rest because they are freaking horrible. Fire the current wroters and get some one talented to write. Go from a single camera show to a multi camera show and shoot on a soundstage.
That is very true I will sit throught the entire season of this just hoping that they can make me laugh once. And do not get me wrong like I siad in the previous post I love MJF as a actor think he is a very talented actor just wish the show was better than what is being put out there.
It's hard writing a truly good (and original) show (of any genre) nowadays, since so much has already been done and I can image writers not wanting to repeat jokes and situations (sitcom: Situation Comedy). Sure this isn't a great show, but there are far, far worse things out there.
Personally, I don't understand how 'Archer' got to 5 seasons, even though I like Jon Benjamin.
I've felt that pretty much nowadays, dramatic series have taken over TV. They seem much more original. Sitcoms aren't around as much anymore. In the 80s, it was ok to write a sitcom and have certain storylines be repeats of other sitcoms. It was formulaic, in truth. That doesn't cut it anymore nowadays. I think the audience doesn't have patience for that anymore...I know I don't.
If you're not taking any steps forward, you're not moving at all.
You say sitcoms do not last as long . But I have couter to that side. Freinds lasted 10 years, How I met your mother is going off after 9 years. Big bang theory is in its 7 year. Two and Half men ( I do not watch this but has to be in the double digits). Again you say sitcoms do not last. I think you mean the bad ones. The good will always outlast the crap it is the problem that they give the bad ones way to much time on the air and do nothing to try and fix it. just accpet it for the bad writing and let it run .
I wanted to like this show. I'm a huge MJF fan -- I always find his attitude inspiring and his acting convincing. He's the only decent part on this television show. The rest of the actors are unnatural; their deliveries are forced. Even if the actors didn't suck, the lines are cliche and the characters are written horribly one-dimensional. There's no saving this show. I regret watching it. Cringe worthy.
Totally agree on the Michael J. Fox part. He does a great job. After all, he's one of the best actors ever! The rest of the cast... yes, not the best ones, no great chemistry as someone said, but all in all, a good show.
