Wanted to like Evelyn, but....

Hi, I hope some of you have time to disagree with me.

>>I thought the lead actress here, Evelyn Brochu, was a bit boring and one-dimensional in this role. I mean, what type of character, or human being, would you expect NOT to be upset on finding 8-year old kids shot and left in the gutter?

>>Thus, I did not attain any odd or universal revelation from Evelyn's acting or reaction here. And her long-lost buddy routine she played with a divorced Mom character absolutely didn't feel genuine. Let's blame an unsure director or writer for this mess, shall we?

>>I also found that I didn't really prefer her acting in the semi-popular ORPHAN BLACK. Besides that, the entire show constantly makes me laugh with the premise that it's 'set in New York' while it was obviously shot in Canada, I couldn't get into Evelyn's scheming character Delphine.

>>In ORPHAN she was extra cute and all that, but as a mysterious seductress, I found Evelyn was hitting all the wrong notes, at least on my sensibilities.

>>Anyway, I really wanted to compliment Ms. Brochu on the brand-new (as of May 2014) TOM AT THE FARM. Shot all in Canada, and proud of it, this an odd bit of psychotic thriller, aimed at the queer audience-- but not limited to them.
>>At a criminally underused 10 or 11 minutes, Brochu shows her real acting chops as an actress playing an actress pretending to be someone who doesn't really exist. And oddly, she's the only one in this film who can deal with the psychotic individual on her own terms, with her own weird rules. Nicely done! Plus, she didn't look like the E.B. whom I had seen before; I like that when physical appearance is mixed up a bit.

>>So, Brochu appears to be a poor 1 for 3 upon me. But I know at least that I can expect powerful, weird stuff from her in the future.
