closing lines (Spoiler)

Just watched inch'allah and I'm a bit breathless. Wow, what a strong ending.

What is the significance of the last couple of lines of the movie with the young boy is peering through the dividing wall observing the trees on the other side? I felt it took away from the shock ending unless I missed some significance to the trees...

thanks for any help you may provide :)

Yeah, the ending was strong, very questioning, pushing human empathy to the limits..

If i am not wrong the boy was hitting the wall for several days. Patiently with pure curiosity, he wanted to have a look to the other side of the wall. And he manages. But I couldn't find any relation with what he says when he checks through the hole. He just describes what he sees.

He sees what he will never have -- trees and beauty.

I thought what the little boy saw then commented on was meant to be symbolic: A large tree (Israel) and a small tree growing beside it (Palestine). And you just kind of got a small eye-view yourself of the relationship between the two.

I loved that he was chipping away at the wall...maybe he also signified hope...

I just took it as a way of saying that there is natural beauty on the other side as opposed to the rubbish heap that the little boy picked through every day. Or perhaps it had a double meaning, a metaphor for Rand and her child that she was now going to be with forever. It was more symbolic rather than having any real significance to the story.
