I also thought Jenna did a fantastic job. After reading about it, I don't think the jury had enough evidence to convict her of the murders. Something that I didn't notice the movie mentioning was that the letter she allegedly sent to her boyfriend while in jail never had her fingerprints on it. Also, her boyfriend recanted in a signed affadavit that the letter was a fake.

They did mention it.

-I forget when, but the first time it's mentioned, she is in jail or maybe it's during an interrogation by the DA, I think. And the DA asks if she's been writing letters. I forget her response, but the DA eventually mentions the letter she supposedly sent the boyfriend. The DA reads the part of it where she supposedly wrote that she was sorry about things happening the way they did, or something like that. And she denies writing that or any letter to the boyfriend. Then the DA hands a copy to her for her to read herself.

-Next, in the scene with her appeals lawyer when he tells her that they lost the appeal, before she loses she says something to the effect, what about the letter. And he says that all the other evidence - buying the gun, borrowing the truck, dumping the bodies - was too overwhelming for the fake letter and the boyfriend's recantation to matter.

-Finally, when the Marshal met with the boyfriend, he mentioned the affidavit and something like he was sorry about it but he did it because he had to look out for himself.

If you can't walk and talk/text at the same time, do the rest of us a favor and get out of the way.

Gaelin - thanks for the info! I must have not been paying enough attention.

I realize they mentioned the letter on a number of occasions but was there anything mentioned about it not containing her fingerprints?

reply

No, nothing at all about fingerprints.

The letter was brought up when the lawyer and her dad came for a visit so to speak and he put the letter up against the glass partition for her to read. She never touched it..but she said that she didn't write it and that it wasn't her handwriting. She did write some letters to him but they weren't brought up in the movie. The boyfriend showed the letters to the guy that he got to write the fake letter....because he said that the guy wrote more like a girl.

I thought the movie made her look more guilty then innocent

She was certainly manipulative, and it does seem that once hurricane Sarah comes in to town, she leaves a trail of jail cells and dead bodies

But I do believe, based on her ex b/f's full recantation and claims that she had nothing to do with the murders, that she is innocent.

I just dont know that I would trust her

disturbedtool - I agree. The movie definitely made her look guilty. I can't say whether I believe she's innocent of the murders or not, but I just don't feel as if the jury had enough evidence to convict her.

That being said I wouldn't trust her at all. She was definitely a very manipulative person who used her looks to get others to do things for her.

When I watch the Snapped episode, and watch her interview, I kept thinking "she seems like a really cool person to hang with. Good sense of humor, always smiling, likes to party etc." But then I thought maybe that is how she manipulates people. She presents herself as being totally submissive to her boyfriend, but at the same time she doesnt seem to be that type of personality. She seems more like the person who wants to maintain control.

The type of person who would sleep with a prison guard to manipulate him into screwing his marriage, family, and career, to help her escape.

Really hard to tell with someone like her. And she was cute, but I felt the movie didnt need to cast a smoking hot girl to play her. Gives the wrong impression.

I love Snapped ... will have to look for her episode. You made a great point regarding the casting of Jenna. I was actually surprised when I saw the real girl's pictures. She was okay looking ... but no where close to Jenna's beauty lol.

The actress who played Sarah is gorgeous but the real Sarah is rather plain looking.

I agree. I kept thinking she had to be a knock-out (mainly because the actress was so pretty, plus they kept referring to her as beautiful), so I was surprised at how plain-looking she was lol.

They should pick actress that look like Sarah Pender not Jennna who doesn't even resemble the real Sarah and Jenna actually prettier than real Sarah Pender

Jenna did a good job playing the role but I agree that they should have found someone who looked like Sarah. Jenna is gorgeous and Sarah is very plain looking.

Jenna is main reason I watch she made them do it

Jenna look pretty good as blonde but prefer her dark hair.

I have not watched the movie yet in fact I only learned of it tonight, but from what you are saying this is very accurate. My ex husband was the lead detective on this case. This case took place while we were dating and carried on after we were married. There was no doubt in my ex's mind that Pender was guilty.

reply

She said she walked to get cigs and then decided NOT to buy any and go back home. I'd like to know if there was a place within walking distance to buy them, and if she smoked. Didn't show her at any time smoking.

The letter. Come on now. Get a handwriting analysis done to show if she did or didn't write it.

I wonder if Bob is still married and when/how his wife finally found out. (By watching the movie, since they used real names?)

reply

I think they did a good job casting Spitler. And, depending on the photo, the real Sarah Pender was not "plain looking", IMO. In fact, she looked really cute in the photo of her with the short red hair and the yellow hoodie. (Then again...beauty is in the eye of the beholder.)
