Did anyone else hope Matt would shoot the annoying kid with glasses who kept abusing Matt with quips about his mother? That kid was so annoying and an a**hole for no reason.
I was hoping he'd be on Matt's list.
I think it's implied that he made it there, it's a bit disappointing that we never actually get to see the conclusion of how things worked out, instead it's left to the viewer's imagination.

Also, Matt mentions "jokingly" that the girl has to die.
After Owen starting spending more time with her and less with Matt, I was sure she was going to die too.
I agree it's a shame we never see the end result, especially after it builds to such a great climax.
Oh well. Still a great movie.
I thought the ending was brilliant by NOT showing the actual shooting. Also, what was the point behind that character? I don't think it was actually pointless, but I feel there is another meaning to the autistic (I think) guy antagonizing Matt. He seemed pretty confident with himself, I'm sure he probably had been bullied at some point in his life as well, and he was always alone. Was it just to show that a primary target for bullies (he being mentally challenged, and all) was also one himself? Was it irony? Was it showing that there are many teenagers bullied all the time, but they deal with in better way and/or just accept it?
I mean I was bullied a lot in junior high (not so much in high school) and never thought about shooting up the place, but the Columbine killers were bullied all the time and actually did shoot up the school. So maybe that character is just there to compare and contrast?
Man this film has left my mind reeling.
I think the bullies put him up to him. They'd feed him lines to deliver to Matt & Owen, thinking it was funny and probably not bulling him in return. Which is why he said those things, to save himself.

And no I didn't 'hope' he'd kill him. Yeah, he was an ass hole, but he didn't deserve to be killed.
shareMy take was that he was developmentally challenged to some degree. He was mimicking the things bullies would say, either just because he'd picked up on it, or as a mechanism of coping with himself having been bullied.
