Depictions of high school characters - should they all be like this?

I think this movie stood out as well as it did largely because it intended to display high schoolers in the exact opposite way that average high school movies depict them and it succeeded quite well. I think that some fans would like all high school movies to depict high school kids like this, however, I wonder if that is feasible all the time. I mean, movie fans complain about how unrealistic high school movies are, but this showed that having them be exactly like everyday high school kids only works in very specific occasions, like when you are going for the exact effect the Dirties was going for. I think some fans will want high school kids shown like they are in Glee, One Tree Hill, Degrassi or High School Musical and not only like this, which may be unfortunate for fans who loved the high school depictions here. What do you think?

Actually the movie was shot guerrilla style in a real high school with mainly real high school students, though in Ontario and not the US. Glee et al appeal because they are in no way real and helps people get away from the everyday realities of school.

I don't understand, what the original poster is talking about. In what way is the depiction of high school students in this movie different from other movies? You have to remember that some people who visit imdb are out of high school already and they don't get such vague comments.

They're actually kids, not 30-somethings. They don't act and talk and have relationships like 20-somethings. Etc. etc.

Wait... you mentioned degrassi, but the last scene is exactly how drake (jimmy) got shot, lol. I hate myself for admitting I watched degrassi and remember details.
