Coup

The president was clearly unable to carry out his office. That is what the 25th amendment to the US constitution was designed to address. Why then suggest that the cabinet invoking the 25th was a "coup", or that if the president did not leave the White House he would not longer be president? The scriptwriters have no understanding of the constitution, or even common sense. If the president was incapacitated the V-P would be sworn in as acting president, not president.

President Sawyer was wrongly believed to be dead when the Vice-President was sworn in as his successor.

The Speaker was sworn in as President after the Vice-President was killed.

However, Sawyer is still alive and the Speaker was one of the masterminds of the attack on the White House. Therefore, the swearing-in of the Speaker as President has become invalid.
