Frisco?
Did his woman really call it that? How do they know all of this?
shareI noticed that too.
Nobody livin in the bay area would do that.
They refer to SF as "the city" or maybe cisco.
Yeah, that was really jarring. Only tourists call the city Frisco. I'll bet it's a mistake on purpose to paint the setting for the larger audience of the movie.
Lived here 25 years, and never heard anyone call the city Cisco, either.

Frisco is a far north Dallas suburb:

Into every life a little coffee must spill.
The old Herb Caen "don't call it Frisco" thing is long dated.
No one cares in this generation if you call it Frisco. I don't know if it was all the local rap music or whatever, but only prior generations mind if you call it Frisco.
SF natives make and sell all kinda of T-shirts and hats saying Frisco and have for the last 20+ years.
Every year, they even have a college prep day for High School Seniors in SF that's called "Frisco Day".
More stuff on how incredibly outdated this Herb Caen "don't call it Frisco" thing is.
I'm surprised there's actually still people in SF under the age of 70 who still think it's considered derogatory.
It also sometimes meant bad news at clubs and parties. Someone would yell "Frisco, n----" and it was "damn it, another drunk idiot wants to act tough and represent his city and get into a fight"

True, no one who lives there calls it Frisco. Seems like natives just referred to specific sections ie the Sunset, Mission district, the wharf etc. I never heard anyone call it Cisco either but it's been years since I lived there.
