I just couldn't get into it.

I went to go see it mainly cause of christoph waltz and he's great but if someone asked I couldn't tell to what the movies about.

Ditto. I came here looking for an explanation. I enjoy movies that leave one thinking, but I just never grasped what was going on here. Seemed like they were all personality traits inside one person's head. Made me think of Ray Liotta in REVOLVER.

I think even Management might suggest there's not a lot.🐭

Agreed. This movie is like a kaleidoscope... lots of pretty colors and patterns but a couple of hours in, you're just rubbing your eyes and wondering why you invested the time.

Personally, I validated my time investment by taking note of the social commentary of the huge collection of signs at the public beach (or park or whatever that was) prohibiting EVERYTHING humans might do during their leisure time. I suppose on some level it implied that going to see this movie was the only viable alternative. Shrewd Gilliam, shrewd.

the story is very simple actually.

a guy imagined he got a call from destiny, but hung up. he is waiting for this call to tell him what to do with life.
he works at a company and wants to work at home,he thinks he is dying. (it is never shown why)
his boss realizes he could work on the project that most people end up quitting. a project to proof there is no god and everything ends up with nothing (no souls, the universe will end in nothing eventually, out lives are meaningless)

the guy spends a year working on it, a weird girl and a weird boy will come to talk to him, most of this is not important
at the end it is shown that he finished his work and proved there is no god and everything ends in nothingness.
the girl falls in love with him but he rejects her. the boy is very sick, might die.

the boss will use the knowledge that nothing matters and that there is no god to make a lot of money.

thats it

You left out the most important thing. Even after proving that all is meaningless he ends up in a place that is meaningful for him.
