pathetic go-pro footage

i worked on commercial boats and love fishing first of all. honestly this pathetic go-pro attempt is extremely boring and everything about it sucks!

camera angles are horrible and way to tight. yes net fishing is damaging and yes it should be banned imo. if they're attempting to show how bad nets are in this video it's a fail. i just don't know what these kids were trying to show?

commercial fishing is a very very repetitive and a dangerous job.

i gave the movie just 1 star.

I agree, soon as it started I though, oh *beep* here we go, 2 hours of blurry camera footage.

No, that's not the point at all. In my opinion this movie is all about the experience of being in that boat, plain and simple. It switches to as many points of view and perspectives as possible so that you get the full experience. Through the camera you are the crew, the fish, the blood and viscera, the seagull. And you get to be right in the middle of it. There are almost no words in this film, therefore no morals. It's not trying to say anything. You can't connect with it intellectually in any way, or at least you can't do it for long i'd say, so you're forced to connect with it through your emotions. Isn't that a wonderful opportunity that we rarely have? This movie is whatever your feelings make of it.

I watched it between 1:30 and 3 am and can only describe the experience as like a vivid nightmare. Despite being exhausted, the time and the film's lack of interest in keeping one's attention, I never wavered despite lying on the most comfortable couch I have ever known.

This film blew me away and it is the first "10" I've given in several years. The shot with the guy falling asleep in the squalid kitchen area trying to watch "Deadliest Catch" was brilliant in several ways. The cascades of starfish sinking back into the abyss, the congealed blood hanging like stalagmites (or tites?), everything. I loved everything about this film.

"Rampart: Squad 51."

If it is about experiece of being on that boat - it has completely failed, because the camera felt more like attahed to a dish they caught and somone found the footage accidentaly than anything coherent.
The only experience it has conveyed was boredom.

You can't connect with it intellectually in any way

See, thats the problem. This is what makes this film completely worthless.

so you're forced to connect with it through your emotions. Isn't that a wonderful opportunity that we rarely have?

No, thats a TERRIBLE thing that we should avoid in the future. because the emotions this movie conveys are hatred towards those that created it.
