Did they ever explain what happened between them? She said he said something about her dating an older man, than he had no idea what she was talking about. But did they work out what happened?

I know sometimes I take something someone says the wrong way and get mad at them for thinking they said something they didn't mean.

I kind of checked out towards the end of the movie, so maybe I just missed it.
