the kids looked the same, whats the big deal?

no one could tell the difference between them!

they could trade them and no one would notice.

same hair, same eyes, same skin color.

"uh, he looks more like me"

BS! they are equal!

reply

Are you serious? They have totally different sentiment. One kid is much taller than the other one.

Same hair, same eyes, same skin color does not make two person identical.

I know you're mostly just kidding, but it's a Japanese cultural thing; pride, honor, bloodlines, all that good Japanese stuff.

To get the same feeling from an American version, cultural significance wise, would require something more extreme, like you're a powerful CEO with a graduate degree from an ivy league school, and your daughter got switched with Larry the Cable Guy's inbred sister-child. (That being said, Steven Spielberg already acquired the rights to make an American version)

You must be joking. Having simliar features does not make them the same person!

You must be either insane or blind, then. If you apply eurocentric ideas of differences like hair, eye and skin colour, you will never be able to tell any East Asian person apart from another.

The boys looked very different. Any idiot can see that.
