Didn't buy the overly hot wife of the handyman

Yukari, the "second" mom in the supporting cast parents, was too good looking to be the handyman's wife. She's got the body of a swimsuit model.

The character of Yudai was purposed humbled down to draw a contrast to the good looking rich successful Ryota, yet why was he assigned this particular actress as wife?

Had they swapped the actresses it would have been more believable.

Life is full and I mean truly full of women who chose men for more than looks. They could be good in bed, or good providers, Or just know how to connect with good looking women. What is so hard to believe about this aspect of life.

Yudai had come to the realization that his family was more important than a career, and the happiness of his children depended more on the attention they received from their parents than on an abundance of stuff. He treated his wife as a full partner, if not the senior partner. Yukari, more assertive than Midori, would never have accepted the neglect of a man who could not be present for the birth of his child.
In fact, the title of the film is ironic, as its unfolding shows us that in fact each son takes after his mother.

That's a really shallow point of view.

All Japanese moms are not.

Don't lend your hand to raise no flag atop no ship of fools.
