The White Lie

Okay everyone tells white lies and they aren't supposed to mean much or be taken as anything that's a huge deal. Isn't that why they are called 'white lies' to begin with? Yet these ladies are just jumping down Mary's throat about the few she used. I can't count how many times I've witnessed my own parents have told white lies while out for dinner at family friends, whether it be about a sibling or grandchild being sick or having to get home to do something or the other, It is just what people do and yeah it was a bit serious to drag a child into the lie and say they got injured in a accident but again I've witnessed many friends making up lies about spouses and kids suffering some ailment which I knew for a fact they were not afflicted with. But whatever, just brush it off and move on already. Sort it out but no need to drag it out forever when the problem you have with a person is about other crap really and not the white lie. I guess for these women it's only something bad when Mary does it.

Exactly. Ioulia was the only one there who acted with an ounce of class and etiquette. Absolutely amazing that everyone is so taken aback by Mary's "compulsive lying" and yet no-one bats an eyelash at Jody and Mia's beyond rude and frankly, quite sociopathic behaviour in public. If Mary didn't lie, then it was a misunderstanding. And if she did lie, it was simply to get away from Jody and Mia because they were being awful and making the party miserable for her, making her feel unwelcome. So to refrain from creating further fuss over the situation, she wanted to slip out with an excuse. And they're really taken aback that she went to party with some other people after they treat her like that? lol what the hell do they expect from her? To sit there and take it and not prefer the company of other people who are better hosts and guests?

Then later, Ronnie notes that things are much more drama-free when Mary isn't around. It's like blaming the dog you kick for being in the path of your foot.

I'm extremely confused about the whole anti-Mary mentality. It seems to be Jody is the one that stoked that fire to begin with, and everybody else, being afraid of her and unable to think for themselves, just got in formation. What is their problem with Mary anyway? I really don't get it. With Jody, I think it started out that not only is Mary far more attractive than Jody, but she is also delicate and lady-like while Jody and Mia are like two beak-nosed, horse-faced, braying donkeys. So I think in Jody's case, it is just far too hostile to be a passive dislike, it's outright malignant hatred and something that strong is usually borne out of the intense jealousy, insecurity, and inadequacy that a petty person might feel for people they feel outshine them. But with the others, is it just some sort of pack mentality? The reason Ioulia was able to be more blasé about it is because she actually has a lot going for her and she doesn't need to elevate herself by tearing down others.

Ioulia is a trip. I adore her. She may be my favourite Housewife in the entire franchise. She's funny and real. I found it rude the way Jody said very pointedly that Amanda's sister was "so different " from Amanda, with the clear implication that it was because she wasn't as attractive. I actually think in many ways they look a lot alike and you can see a strong family resemblance, so I don't know what Jody's on about. OMG, as frightening as Jody looks in full makeup, she was even more horrifying pre-makeup on Top Chef. Why doesn't she retire those bug-eyed "The Fly" wannabe sunglasses and update? Also, those horrendous cutesy super-short frilly skirts make her look dumpy and absurd. And what was with the cheap-hooker-in-Amsterdam patterned lace tights? I'd call her a hot mess, but that would only be half true.

I agree.

You can probably bet that each and every one of the guests at that table have told a white lie to leave early at one point or another.

It was obvious that Mary wasn't comfortable. She was expected by the rest of them to sit there and take the hostility??

Why isn't anyone calling Jody on her horrible manners towards Mary? Mia as well. Why is it OK for them to be such hateful shrews?? I find their actions much more dispicable than someone trying to get out of a very uncomfortable situation.

Oh, and Ronnie needs a kick in the azz. A very fairweather friend, I think.

I just don't get the sudden Mary hostility. I felt very bad for her when she was the only one not invited to TO. That speaks volumes about Jody and what a conivving bully she is.

Oh, wait, it's an 'unscripted' reality show [laughj]

LMAO! Well when she was at the butt doctor's party in Toronto she made sure to point out how it was her scene with all the older successful Jewish women. I was like okay we get it only her sort of people are classy and worth the time and company and all of us other people aren't fit to lick the great Jody's shoes.
