I don't understand the concept

The David Krumholtz character is clearly mentally ill, to even entertain his idea is madness - yet the trailer makes it feel like it's just a little abnormal and they're going to talk it over. If a friend of mine brought up that idea I'd be on the phone with the closest mental institution before he could finish the sentence.

Yeah it doesn't make sense to me either.

Saw it last October. This question making sense is the least of the film's problems.

To me it goes like this: A man who just lost his mother has always been horny for 4 specific people. Now that he has an excuse, he will talk his way into having sex with them all.

Pathetic.

reply

I guees any one could write this but it seems something like is an unlikely thing to happen. Especially if he succeeds.

I just watched the trailer. Who the *beep* is going to let their friend sleep with their girlfriend just because they are grieving?

Maybe, if he had cancer and was given weeks left to live. But WTF?

Stupidest idea ever. It's like Indecent Proposal but without the million dollars.

It's like Indecent Proposal but without the million dollars.
That actually made me laugh really hard thinking about the pitch meeting.

"So... we're thinking an 'Indecent Proposal' kind of vibe. Everyone loves beautiful people having sex and lots of money, right?"

"Yeah. Go on."

"So... the twist is- there's no money and the guy's a big schlub."

Here's where I get confused, he did not say he wanted to have sex with their girlfriends rather that he wanted to have sex with everybody there, thus including the guys? Does that not make it a more dramatic version of 'a good old fashioned orgy'?

reply

He's a weasel, he only wants the girls. An orgy would be a slightly better premise

reply

Initially he said "everyone here", then changed it to "just the women".

Not that I think it's a reasonable request, but people mistakenly conflate sex and love constantly, and that concept is as old as the hills. He said repeatedly that he needed a "wave of love" and by the end, I feel like he understands the difference. I mean, look at the situation. His wife is sick of him, so I'm sure there's not much intimacy going on in any way. He just wants to feel seen and loved and care for--he's just, as so many people do, going about it the wrong way.
