Disappointed with ending?

Anybody else feel a little let down? Obviously I was not expecting a happy ending but there seemed too many loose ends?

reply

It kind of feels like there should be another episode.

It did leave a few loose ends; perhaps to leave open the possibility of a second series... I wouldn't bet on it though.

I'm only going to say this once: stay out of Camberwick Green - Sam Tyler

Yes I did wonder about a follow up but I am not sure I would commit to another 3 parter!

I kept looking at the time and thinking that they had an awful lot to take care of in the last few minutes. Danto, the blackout scene and Bevan's fate. I like to think that we, as a modern audience, do not need everything spelled out for us but I just felt the last episode was not of the quality of the first 2.

Fabulous acting though, Andrew Scott in danger of being typecast!

Lukewarm for me this. It dragged and then it all happened in the final ep. I also think despite CE's character confessing, it would go in defence in the court, my client was drunk he can't be sure etc etc. I see the need to be honest but he really doesn't know if he killed Pulis he thinks he has and the flashbacks and other things in the drama say so but I still wondered if Jerry and the detective had done.

It's unlikely the CPS would get a conviction if this went to trial, IMO. He's admitted everything in public and then made it clear that he had a blackout. There's no forensic evidence, by the look of it.

But it's pretty clear that he was framed anyway. All we know from the flashbacks is that he hit Pulis, and the other memories could just as easily be explained by his close contact with him afterwards, (a) to secure the incrimination file and (b) possibly to try to help.

His career has certainly been destroyed but whether a manslaughter conviction could be imposd is debatable.

Yes, I agree with what everyone else has said. The story led me to believe that perhaps he didn't do it, I thought that the CCTV would be recovered and the truth would be known. :(

I was definitely disappointed with the ending and agree with all those who say "too many loose ends". The resolution didn't begin to do justice to the crises and tension leading up to its climax. 2 hours 45 minutes was given over to the narrative and rising action but there was no way the writers were going to provide a satisfactory conclusion to this complicated drama in the final 15/30 minutes. When I reached the second half of the third episode I realized their reach had exceeded their grasp and fast forwarded through to the end. I did go back and watch the last 30 minutes but the ending was predictable in as much as it was sure to be a disappointment - bummer! It had to be obvious to the writers and producers that this program needed another episode or more to tie it all together and yet they ignored the demand for reasons only they know. When this happens I always suspect there were budgetary issues work. Who knows!? Who gives a damn!

Despite the "improbable link and coincidences" I loved Eccleston in the lead and would like to see him in more. I like Ewan Bremmer's performance as well.
