... they hadn't killed Drexel off in the plane crash.

There are lots of different ways they could have gone -- Drexel could have become a bloated druggie (as real Elvis did) while Dexter/Ray remains a reasonably fit and slim adult.

Dexter could have helped Drexel shape up and reclaim his career, or it could have gone the other way, etc etc etc.

They could have had Drexel bitter and resentful at discovering his long lost twin, etc etc.

They could have laid on the faith-based stuff really heavy if they had chosen or gone the other way.

They could have had a storybook happily-ever-after ending - the brothers reunite, etc etc. Or a more tragic/poignant ending.

Yeah, I thought that would have been an interesting plot too.

I thought Drexel was gonna want out of the limelight and ask Dexter to secretly take his place.

I agree. It would've been interesting if they had met. But I guess that's too expensive to shoot.
