It only just occurred to me when they said the main guy's name out loud followed soon after by his wife's name that a bunch of people have Biblical names, or something close to those names. Joseph and Mary? The son's name is Peter. Kane (Cain), the crazy sort-of-killer guy. Jude (Judas), who ended up betraying the wife and son. Oh, and the daughter being named Jacey -> JC -> Jesus Christ.

I was hoping it'd turn out that everyone in the movie had some kind of Bible name, but I'm not about to waste extra time looking stuff up, heh. I'm not sure if this is vaguely amusing or just stupid.

The son is Peter and there is also an Aaron. The grandmother was Miriam. Jayce is 'the chosen one'. The poor movie just isn't sure what it wanats its focus to be.

I think they were just grasping at straws trying to pull in biblical references that would tie the Myans' 12/21/2012 thing to Christianity and Christmas. But yeah, I suspect the script took about 45 minutes to write.
