Way too calm

Does anyone else think that these people are a little too calm? If I saw my mom impaled by what I am assuming is shards of brimstone hurling to earth from the sky I would be a tad freaked out. Its not like she was beaned by a hundred pound hailstone. He gave her a quick "what a shame" look and then they seemed to mourn her as if she simply died of a heart attack. Just seems a bit off to me but maybe the rest of this movie will hold some potential.

Well, 39 minutes in I am thinking there's not much potential.

i was thinking the same thing

This movie is why I love SyFy--they're so bad you can't stop.

You should get the Chiller channel, now that takes some serious stamina to make it thru most of their flicks. Its like watching a train wreck, you just cant look away.

There's too many commercials on Chiller and their movies tend to be horror and not the over the top disaster flicks you get on Sy Fy.

reply

Chiller is SyFy's sister station. It's not on Comcast but on Uverse.

reply

The movie itself is way too calm. There is not enough action. All of these disasters are going on in one day.

reply

Lol, too calm doesn't even come close to my thoughts on it. I was thinking his mother is unexpectedly impaled & eviscerated by what looks like a 6 foot stalactite and he looks at her like she suddenly developed a case of the hiccups. Even if that happened to a complete stranger, most people would go into instant shock but this guy walks away like she was laying down to take a a little nap.

reply

Well when you live in Eureka, you get used to weird events.

reply

Yeah, it was like not a big deal to him that his mother was killed, 10 minutes after it happened.

reply

His mother Miriam isn't listed in the cast. I guess she got smart and didn't want associated with this Disaster.

reply

Yeah, I have to say I watched the whole movie and thought that too - In the middle of the disaster the father tells his daughter how proud he is of her, when the end happens after he was shot he just sort of gets up to wake her up once its over, as if he forgot she just had 100 foot flames coming out of her for 10 seconds. ANd then when the dog returns at the end, theyre all so casual about it. Did anyone else notice the explosion cannons sticking out of the ground or how the Mayan STones were so easily removed from the mud after being in the ground for so long, still visible and covered with freshh green moss? Even on a low budget and 14-21 days of shooting a movie there has to be attention to detail.

reply

I've seen three disaster movies just lately where the people are so casual. If you think that they were calm in this, you ought to see the people in 'Fire Twister' (2015) where they even get to joke about the situation.
