wrong subtitle

The correct subtitle should be "How currencies became worthless".

reply

I thought that the subtitle would be correct because we are currently existing on money not currency. Is it not money that has risk of becoming useless not currency because currency will always have value behind it.

reply

I think you've got it the wrong way around. Money is the thing that always has value. Currencies can devalue over time.

reply

Hmmm I disagree because I believe money is typically printed and endorsed by a government while currency can also include money but also include other objects of value if it widely accepted as a commodity. For example, bullets could become a form of currency if the value of all monies became null. I may be incorrect but that is my answer and I am sticking to it.

Very well, but at least one person in the film itself takes the reverse view of currency vs money. In this clip from the film, it is money that is referred to as having intrinsic value: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-CUytOtYc8I I'm sure there's overlap between the two terms. Many use them interchangeably.

Money is a medium of exchange. Currency is a money substitute.
