Director have a hard-on for John Carpenter or what.....?

The soundtrack, credit fonts/style, story, and even the movie poster are all a homage to Mr. Carpenter. But sadly, this movie doesn't live up to the hype and quality it truly wants.

I noticed that as well, too bad this movie stunk. I wanted to like it, but it was just poorly done. The acting and dialogue was horrible. The effects were decent, but couldn't save it. Best thing about this movie was the trailer. John Carpenter wouldn't be pleased if he saw this one. Definitely not worth the $6.99 I paid to rent it.... going to watch The Thing now, the good one that is.

Which one was "the good" The Thing? I *loved* Carpenter's version with Kurt Russell!

Carpenter's version, is the good one. The prequel "The Thing" was ok, but no where near as good as the original. Pretty dumb they called it The Thing as well, confuses a lot of people. They really ruined the prequel with all the computer effects too. Carpenter's version to this day still blows me away with it's special effects. I don't think anyone can top that movie.

I love John Carpenter's "The Thing" also, but it is not the original, the original was made in 1951 and starred James Arness. http://horrornovelreviews.files.wordpress.com/2013/12/thething.jpg

The original was good too, considering the year it was made.

Sorry I should have re-worded what I said. What I meant to say was John Carpenter's 1982 version of The Thing. I have seen the original though, but enjoyed Carpenter's version better.

I wasn't sure you even knew about the 1951 original, I'm sure many people out there don't. I'm "old" so I remember! LOL I love the special effects in the Kurt Russell version, as I also love Kurt! Happy Christmas to ya!

Oh yeah the special effects were great for it's time. Still looks good today. Thanks hope you have a great holiday as well.

They're all based on the same short story but the 50's version is VERY VERY loosely based.

Trust no one.
