the older boss was using the lock to try and kill him.

the dirty cop didn't close the freezer door. he made bobby and alisa cable tie themselves to the steel shelf.

then he went to look for the money in the box. as he was doing so, they melted the cable tie on the steel shelf and ran for the open door. (remember he wired the shelf to act as a heater and it glowed red hot)

there was a brief shot of the melted cable ties you might have missed.

the premise that you can turn the shelf into a heater is very far fetched. the en
tire circuit is sgorted and would blow the fuses
