"Brother"

Brother, you may be wondering, brother, is he gonna say "brother" again, brother? Well brother, I gotta tell ya, brother, this screenwriter's getting paid by the word, brother, and I'm sure I'll have twice as many pages if I have the bad guy begin and/or end everything he says with "brother", brother. You know what, brother? Let's have the generically ruggedly handsome hero say it too, brother, a few more won't hurt.

I was waiting for the credits to roll and say:

Director, brother
Screenplay, brother
Best boy, brother
Gaffer, brother
Brother, brother
Brother
Brother brother, brother, brother brother brother, brother

I think the insinuation was the two main characters had a lot in common and were cut from the same cloth. But I couldn't help make the same observation that the "brother" term was overused, and it's a tired old expression from the hippy era, which made it even more annoying.

For sure, I agree. And I think it actually fit the guy's character, because he was using the word to imply a sense of closeness that wasn't earned, and therefore unsettling. But by the halfway mark, I was rolling my eyes and gritting my teeth.

The guy's character was that he simply said "brother" all the time. It wasn't specifically about implying closeness. He even the called the dog "brother" ffs.

That was awesome. Thanks for a good laugh, brother.
