Why are the guys so threatened by Christian Grey?

Are guys questioning the female fantasy towards Christian Grey because they feel as average guys, they can't live up to the fantasy? Well, most women can't live up to the fantasy of the women you see in Sports Illustrated, or worse, Playboy.

The statement below is false.
The statement above is true.

They were the same over on the Magic Mike board."why do women want to watch this trash?"

reply

no they were most likely not. magic mike is a fun movie and yes the "fantasy" part in that case is valid, while FSOG is an abuse/rape fantasy. huge difference.

reply

Some women are turned on by both, or either... This cuts beyond age, education and social status...

Sexual fantasies don't always conform to what is politically correct or publically acceptable... It doesn't make them any less true or erotic to the people who like them...

Far more women have mentioned Fifty Shades to me, than those who have mentioned Magic Mike...

reply

Men don't feel threatened by Christian Gray.

We just think that it's rather odd that women reading FSOG on the train on their morning commute to work is more socially acceptable than men reading Playboy on the bus.

Gray is an attractive man. You could just enjoy that like men enjoy attractive women. But apparently you women don't get off on rubbin' your nubbin over him until he's an abusive billionaire as well. That's incredibly weird.

And yes, I know his name is actually "Grey". I'm just *beep* with you, Ted.

reply

Uh, "Fifty Shades" may be porn, but it doesn't have pictures.

That's the difference between being able to take something out in public or not.

reply

And yet, I have the strange feeling that if it were a man who would be reading it in the bus on his work to work or home, people would look at him and think he's a sociopath lol. Or a pervert.

That's just the feeling I get. Maybe people would be okay. But I strangely feel like it would be another case of double standards.

Women have been deprogramming us from behaving like the hypermasculine douchebags in those movies for the last 100 years. So when we see some modern
women fetishizing these shallow mysoginist date rapists in movies it leads to us being confused.

Do you want men to be sympathetic, supportive, and feminist or do you want
men to be six pack having slabs of meat?

Or do you want the made up sensitive beefcake who is a supportive feminist?

It sends mixed signals.
Believe me, we are not threatened by these unrealistic puppets.
Just confused.

reply

It is a fantasy...and that is one think women love...and I am positive you would
get way more bad looks for reading a Playboy magazine in public than the very mild cover of any 50 Shades books...most of the covers of Playboy are X rated..

and PS..I want a sensitive beefcake who is a supportive feminist and sympathetic to the causes of women..you know the type...perfect..and I had one of those.

"Do you want men to be sympathetic, supportive, and feminist or do you want

Do men want women to by sympathetic, supportive, life coaches who can cook, or beautiful, submissive, photoshopped, silicon dolls? Or goggle-eyed Anime characters, for that matter?

Sorry, but straight men don't have any room to criticize, when it comes to unrealistic expectations.

reply

Lol, don't try to understand women.

Women don't care about what men own, how they look, what is their income and what is their job or future plans, all they care about is personality because all they want is a caring man who will give them the love they need.

Until... A great guy with a great personality shows up, is ready to give them all the love they want. Then, suddenly, it bothers them that the man doesn't have a car, is still not completely set in life, is a student so his wallet is not heavy. So suddenly, all these materialistic factors matter.

Been there, I had a hard time with women for a while. Because, despite the fact that when I was in a realtionship, I've always been ready to give all the love and the care to a woman, I was a poor student who couldn't afford an instant trip to Europa lol. So yeah, I've seen many women claiming that they are not shallow, they are different from other women and all they want is a great personality... Only to realize that all this is total bullshit.

Bottom line, don't expect much logic from women, their brains go in so many different directions and their moods change 10000 times in a day.

No real man is threatened or feels less of a man seeing the rapist/stalker/abuser that Christian Grey is, real men would never abuse someone they love and the only reason woman find Christian Grey attractive is his looks and his wealth. Take away the looks and his money and a very ugly sick man lies underneath.

Men like playboy and hustler because of the nude women but those do not abuse women or depict them in a bad light, the show what a man finds sexy and what arouses him.

No normal man wants to harm, or treat his woman like a rape victim.

This! Money is a great getaway for pretty much everything in this world driven by money. We can deny it as much as we want, and say out loud that we are equals and have the same rights and possibilities... But we all know it's horseshit.

Technically, yes, we all have the "chance" to become whoever we want... But let's be honest here, we all know that some people are born with great opportunities while others don't have this privilege.

reply

no. the problem with the film and even more the book is that it is not a BDSM fantasy, it is an abusive relationship and considering some of the events, e.g. him ignoring her using the safe word in the book is straight up rape.
