How is everyone playing through this game?

I have decided as I am sure most people have to have two, maybe more playthroughts.

My first, is pure violence and chaos just because I can, the game is still fun and when fighting enemies it can be a bit tricky but you get the hang of it.

Once completed I shall playthrough without killing anyone. Has anyone managed to do this yet?

I haven't beaten the game yet. I lost all my saves when I reformatted my hard drive last week. But I'm playing through the game as violently as possible. I kill everybody that isn't a main character, including survivors, courtisans and the like.

The powers I've been leveling are Bend Time and Blood Thirst, mainly. It's a pretty vicious combo. I also use Blink and Dark Vision pretty judiciously, just to get the jump on people.

I kind of like playing the game this way, because I get just enough stealth action to keep it strategic, but when I want to let s--t hit the fan, my character is very capable of taking down groups of enemies. Plus, by killing everything I see, I should get a super-dark ending. That will be cool.

Okay. Now I'm going to do his teeth and cut off his fingers. You might want to leave room.

Same as me I just done the Boyle Sisters mission and I didn't leave a single survivor from enemies to party guests to any of the sisters, why? Because I can!!

I use bend time and blink mainly although I am pretty sh*t hot with my sword as well.

I wanted the really dark ending, all of my mission status at the end have been high chaos so I am hoping for it soon!!

well, we're all sick bastards and I'll let you know something (I didn't finish the game yet too) while we hack and slash all the episodes (the only guy I spared so far is slackshaw's sad minion) we get TWO different endings at the end. If we let Emily die (I still don't know how but I'l hard-save that) or let here live the darkness would change. Low chaos ending is one though.

What do you mean? I know there's a dark ending and a less dark ending based on how you play but is there a different ending if you kill Emily? Obviously one would think so but she's pretty essential for the final mission so doesn't make sense if you can kill her...

I've finished the game once already, true hack and slash style killing anyone who got in my way and I got the dark ending. It'll be interesting to see how early you can spot the difference between the two story progressions. Hopefully it doesn't just differ in the final mission...

Bend time, possess people and put him in front of the bullet he shot :)

Just finished my 1st playthrough. Zero kills. Got the low chaos ending. Now EVERYONE DIES!!!

I Did it the same way, and going thru on "full-on murder" mode now. I've got some other games to get back to, but any further playthru from me will be an "organic" run. Trying to minimize killing, but not using quicksave, to see if I can achieve low chaos when the pressure is on.

My first play through I played it like I would IRL, curious & cautious, hearing people out before deciding their final fate. Arc Pylons, Walls of Light & those Turret-Towers always hijacked to cover my back. Setting up traps for powerful enemies. Lots of blink, dark vision, stealth kills and the vaporizing talent. City Watch wasn't necessarily evil so only killed them when I had to, other enemies (including Tall Boys) I'd rip to shred from above or from the dark. Highest difficulty.

My 2nd play through I whored for trophies and played 75% difficulty, without killing anyone, without upgrades or power, without being seen, with all of the least violent options. Truth & Stealth, saint-mode. Sleep darts, chokes & blink only. Until the Flooded District this went pretty easily. Bear in mind that NOT KILLING ANYONE, includes plague victims! (which is a pain in the arse!)

My 3rd play through I went completely nuts, slaying everyone but still some justice (not killing sir Curnow f.ex). Always engage from stealth and lots of sword battles & gunfire, drawing entire groups into razor traps and jumping 3 tallboys at a time, hopping in between them and melee'ing them to death! Most fun on the highest difficulty, altho the sword fighting is borderline terrible, which I hadn't noticed until battling with it A LOT.

I finished this last night. Tried to be stealthy, but it just wasn't happening, so I still got the high chaos ending. I actually have no idea how anyone would be able to not only not kill anyone, but not ever be detected. That is crazy to me!

I think one should go for a stealth game and ending first, and for a chaotic one later. In my opinion, the chaotic gameplay and story is significantly better and more satisfying than the stealth one.

I did my first playthrough without even getting SEEN, let alone any killing whatsoever. It was challenging, but still fun.

Then I went back for a second playthrough, this time it was a maniac's murder spree and I finished it in about 1/4 of my earlier time. It was a lot more fun racking up the body count, but the ending wasn't as satisfying.

I borrowed the game last year and played through once.
I decided to only kill some of the people and almost without exception I did not kill the guards etc as I felt they were just earning a wage and shouldn’t be part of my revenge. This wasn’t to get an achievement it was just the way I decided to play. The only time I didn’t do this was because I was being stupid and on an early level where you have to cross the bridge, after knocking people out I would “hide” them by throwing them off into the water – I clearly was being stupid because it was only when the stats came up at the end of the level that I realized that they had all died - of course by drowning or by fish with big teeth.

I bought the game last week as after giving it back I realized I had so much more to do in the game. This time I feel more justified to play with the dark heart of vengeance so, while I am still being stealthy, my goal is to wipe out everyone apart from civilians who have nothing to do with anything going on. So I played through the Golden Cat and wiped out every single person in the place – the guards, courtesans and the clients. My view was that all of them were directly complicit in the imprisoning of the girl and the bigger conspiracy – so they all deserved to be part of the consequences.

It was quite fun to not only do this but to take all the bodies and throw them out into the sea or take them to an area infected with rats – I turned the place into a ghost town with no bodies left to tell a tale.

I am enjoying the idea of my character being embittered and full of hate and my plan is to end the game with as high a chaos rating as possible.

Next time I will play the game and try to be a total ghost with nobody seeing anything and only non-lethal removal of the key people...I think this will be much more challenging in some ways - although easier in others...stealth killing everyone mean I cannot just bypass busy areas but have to actively go in and try to work out how I'll take people out one by one.

Be still Moriarty, do you want us both out of this suit?
