Embarrassing flashbacks

Well most adults don't change much over 12 years. I mean, some make up might have helped a little but look at photos of, for example Keira Knighhtley in Bend It Like Beckham (released in 2002) and then photos of her today. Bearing in mind she was 17 when that film came out and is 27 now, she really hasn't changed all that much at all.

And also, quite frankly, it comes down to narrative ease. Same actress playing the same part means it's easier for the audience to know who everyone is.

It *can* work but it didn't here. Rex and Karen didn't convince as students and Biba looked nowhere near 33-35 in the second part. The fact that all three characters were thin and 2-dimensional didn't help; sometimes it's possible to convince even if the physical appearance is wrong.
