This show from an older Adult view.

Now I may be the odd guy out. I'm 29 I live in the USA and found this show on Netflix. Being a fan of the genre and idea. I liked Being Human (US), Bitten (US), Teen Wolf (US MTV) and now this show.

Being 29 having issues when I was in school, getting along with others and fitting in (more difficult than other students) I can see why the writers made this show. With kids today. Gays, Disabled, etc. Just anything really that makes a kid stand out. I was kind of a nerd. So I stood out. I've moved passed that but it still happened. So using the idea that 2 (I'm only in the 1st episode of the 1st season, no spoilers please) werewolf teens have to try to fit in while using their powers, I think that's a great way to send a message to today's kids and teens to hang in there. Plus the show makes it entertaining.

So how many of you all are adults and like or would admit you like this show?

I don't care myself for the cute like wolves like Twilight as I don't like those movies and love stories like that.

I think this show is more (pardon the pun) "tame" than others in the same area, like MTVs Teen Wolf. So personally want to see how well the characters handle the two lives and go to school and move on in life.

What do you all think? Please keep your answers clean. Some are adults but alot are kids and younger audience.

I know there are many older fans of the show especially because it is geared towards families and kids. I think this show is well written and well done. I think the actors do a good job as well. Yes, it is more tame than Bitten & Teen Wolf. I enjoy those shows as well. I think the show is interesting.

Stiles, just Stiles.
You gave your powers to a walking time bomb-Stiles

reply

I think you hit the nail on the head. In some ways I like this show better than Teen Wolf. Yes it lacks the action and violence. But it lacks the lovey dovey romance too.

This show focuses more on family as a "pack" where Teen Wolf (Scotts) friends (like Stiles) are his pack.

I can also watch this and reflect to my school days, trying to fit in, being a bit of a nerd and having trouble making friends and being an outcast of sorts. Then again that is what this shows message is about. That no matter what or who you are there is always someone to stand with you.

But the more I watch the more I like it. I do hope there is more than 3 seasons/series.

Ive been a big Wolfblood fan since it first started and Im in my forties! It is well written and the characters keep you interested. Plus after so many American shows its nice to see teenagers who dont look about thirty and who actually go to school!LOL
Kids TV does occasionally produce a hidden gem or two! ;)

I'm also in my forties and have liked the show since it began. Good television is good television, regardless of who the target audience may be. I was also a fan of Wolfblood's darker & more violent CBBC stablemate Young Dracula as well.

I'm 23 and I enjoy it. Its one of my guilty pleasures. I'm also a fan of Bitten (Canada, actually...), Being Human (US and UK), and Teen Wolf.

Even though the show isn't as 'gritty' as Bitten, Being Human, and Teen Wolf...it is still very much enjoyable. I love how they incorporate real wolf behaviour into the show, as well.

I like the show as well & I am much older... age shouldn't matter, when it's well done, it's done... You don't see too many adult thinking 'Finding Nemo' weak, do you.

But I think it's not suitable to compare it to US series. Different cultural sensibility... & the focus is usually very different. The show has more in common with Being Human (UK) & In the Flesh (UK). It focus most on social acclimation in an urban fantasy context, the story isn't 'tame', it is just what it is suitable to be... and they gave a lot with very little, also different enough to stand on it's own.

Teen Wolf is problematic... I love grand ambition when it comes to world-building, but I think the show suffer from too much production problems & limitations (limited budget, casts leaving here & there) which can't be good for the writing. So far season 4 is a mess... but I like 3B the most, really showed that Jeff Davis wanted franchise level setting. But the show is very much a 'good old' table-top RPG kind of group vs. evil. The 2 shows are not comparable, any similarity is superficial. Teen wolf is more comparable to Buffy.

Being Human (US) is slightly closer but still mostly due to theme similarity to UK version.

I haven't watch Bitten. US produce a lot of series... which also means they have comparatively more chances of producing crap that tends to masquerade soap or romance under this genre and far too similar formula. And do not underestimate how much US shows are gear towards "family friendly"... they just have very different ideas of what that means.

See...I disagree. The first thing I thought of when I started Wolfblood (just this last Monday) was, "Oh goodie, another Teen Wolf type show! Yay!" I'm currently almost finished with S2 (four days after starting the series). I'm also, however, getting Buffy vibes from this (Wolfblood)...especially from Shannon/Willow, but not just with them. It's been a long time since I've watched Buffy...I'm going to have to pull out the DVDs. Lol. Anyway, I'm very much enjoying this!

I just started watching this show and it's fantastic. I love Maddy's parents. It's not your typical 'teenage' show where everyone is hooking up and doing drugs and purposely hurting each other.

I love how the parents are the 'teachers' to Maddy and Rhydian. Keeping them safe and trying to teach them to keep their Wolf blood live a secret and teaching them how to control themselves so no knows.

I also got to admit what attracted me to this show is that it's British and I only watch British shows. I can't stand American shows. I love Being Human (UK) and anything else British.

I did try Twilight and I just couldn't get into it. Maybe it's the acting, I don't know.

reply

Honestly, as the show progresses, the writing gets sloppier. Her parents are useless, her friends think they're helping her, when they're not, and Maddy is apologizing for her feelings, when she's completely in the right (e.g. being filmed) Her parents should've sat Shannon down and explained why it's wrong, instead everyone is apologizing to her.

Goodness, CountryMusicianGuy, I'm 44...and enjoying this show too...very much enjoying it! I just started watching it on Monday (on Netflix too) and I'm almost done with S2. Lol. Anyway, I admit that I like it...even brought it up at work to some of my co-workers. Mind you, everyone's a lot younger than I am there, but...I have no problem admitting when I like something. In saying that, I happen to like Twilight myself...don't mind at all for the "cute" in that series. Lol. But I'm also a fan of Being Human...liked the original Brit version better than the US version, but I watched the American series too. Haven't seen Bitten. when I found Wolfblood on Netflix, I chose to watch that over Bitten...but Bitten is next. And I love Teen Wolf! It's funny, when I started watching Wolfblood, I immediately thought of Teen Wolf. I don't mind the tame. 

Ok..I just saw this on Netflix and love fantasy and similar,so I started to look at what is up with this series I never heard of. And I love British TV..

So,now 6months later you must have seen a lot of it. So let me know if I should take the plunge. I watched being human, liked the Brit version better. And I didn't care for bitten...I was surprised how good teen wolf was,but am only on the part were grandpa is discovered. I liked Buffy and Angel well after the fact. Never watched while they were on. But not a big fan of vamp diaries and a lot of CW...I am older than you. But I was surprised how much I got into Buffy after years of ragging on it. Lol...so...I'm game to try it out.

I love this show. I just finished the third season the other day. I'm 21 years old and I live in VA. I love Teen Wolf. I loved Bitten. When I saw this come up in my suggested shows on Netflix, I was like "I definitely have to watch that." I can't wait for the fourth season.

I'm a big fan of Teen Wolf, but, I haven't seen Bitten yet. Twilight I couldn't make through the second film I'm afraid

I'm in my thirties and I've become a big fan of this series. I know it's a children show, but, it is well written with interesting characters. I'm afraid to say that I prefer some children's series. - Young Dracula, Leonardo, Nowhere Boys, MI High. - to adult shows as they're more interesting

Bitten reminded me a bit of Wolfblood, just with sex, blood, and actual fighting.

I am 32 and found this show while browsing the channels on my TV, basically this was the best thing on. Normally this is not my favourite genre, fantasy, but I still very much enjoy this show.
