Don't watch this movie. Depressing.

Ugly, annoying mom. Ugly, annoying kid. Ugly, depressing worldview.

Yes, grief exists. And it must be worked through. But it doesn't have to be this miserable. And why dwell on it as a movie-goer?

The "happy" ending doesn't justify the 1.5 hours of negativity leading up to it.

I'd much rather watch a movie about the sister and her friends, ideally with some tasteful nudity.

If someone has depression, like the main character does, grief doesn't just go away because it has to, or because people like you think it should. Everyone deals with it differently. The movie shows us how the main character deals with it. It's not a cut-and-dry process, and we're not all "life is beautiful" like maybe you are. One point this movie makes is how debilitating grief, loss, and depression can be. It's a shame that you've missed the messages in this film.

reply

Wait... he hasn't missed the message of this film. You confirmed what he didn't like about the film.

reply

Yeah, what was Euripedes thinking? All that misery. Why dwell on it as a viewer is actually a good question. Unfortunately, you asked it rhetorically.

Ugh, "Strangers! Don't watch this movie because I didn't like it". Why are some people so totalitarian about their taste?

These are the only words I have, I'm stuck with them, stuck in them

Because people are stupid creatures, incapable of actually understanding different opinions. Yes we go and dance around it tolerating different opinions and pretending we can understand it but at the end of the day we still see things our way. And if your opinion is that there should be only good movies youll end up like OP.

Maybe YOU don't like serious movies, with dark, emotional content; but there are plenty of ut that do like them. I for one would rather watch a depressive movies with a good story, than watch silly, (un)funny movies.

Don't tell others what to like. You sound like an arrogant douche bag.

This sentence has nothing to do with what I just have written above.

reply

Horror movies aren't usually uplifting.

Because sometimes art can touch different topics (often controversial ones) and make the audience think about them and question their opinions on said topic. It is depressing but presented in a undoubtedly well made manner.
