when did you guess the twist that <Spoiler> was actually the <<Spoiler>>

I suspected that they both were. I was only surprised that <spoiler> was not.

Since they were both so cold and robotic from the start, I didn't know. But the stubble on Adam's face got me thinking. When he asks, "Do you think she likes me?" I absolutely knew the twist. But that didn't ruin it for me, I really enjoyed the whole movie.

I didn't really figure out the ending until the last minute but pretty much the whole time I was watching I felt that Adam seemed more human than David did. I had the feeling that David might be a robot just when his encounter with Joy became sexual because he seemed way too naive at that point that it didn't seem real but I didn't know he was a robot the entire time.

I knew when Joy was speaking to Adam and he had difficulty making eye contact. Proper eye contact protocol would have been job one...well, up there at the top anyway. He acted like someone with Aspergers---which in fact he was supposed to be. Plus Adam's skin wasn't as good. I wonder who the other 5 test subjects were.

I didn't see it coming and usually I always see it coming, crafty.

apparently she didn't either.

Haha!!! 

I didn't see it coming either.. Until "Adam" had "David" on the table and was digging around in him. I'm just surprised the chick didn't get it til she was basically beat over the head with the truth in the form of the prosthetic penis lol. Not a bad movie at all, although Mark Webber's acting was very drone-ish (which I guess was the point) and he came off as such an arrogant mf that it seemed impossible that this chick would fall for him, esp in a week.. I plan on watching it again, I'm sure in hindsight I'll find a ton of signs that Adam was really the human. Some good ones have already been mentioned here, stubble on his face, lack of eye contact, etc. Kudos to those who figured it out sooner, but I enjoyed being surprised..

That took me out of it a bit, that Joy fell in love with David inside a week, when the dude was a cold fish. Nobody can fall for such a cold emotionless guy in that short a time, imo.

reply

From the very beginning more or less. This movie wasn't trying very hard to be original.

reply

In the first 5 mins. They wanted a un assuming ai and it was clear that the real robot was unassuming

reply

Same. Or, rather, it was trying much TOO hard, which resulted in it being extremely predictable, in my opinion. I definitely knew nearly immediately how it was going to end.

Well, I saw Ex Machina awhile back, and since this had a similar premise, near the beginning, I was thinking how cool it would be to have a film like this where it has this kind of twist... however, I wasn't fully expecting it, so it still surprised me near the end. I had a feeling something was coming, though.

I looked for signs early on. The screenplay tried to shift the focus elsewhere, but it was always a possibility.

On a side note, many people would be able to see through your topic even with the (spoilers). It is a spoiler to say there is a twist, and then the wording makes that spoiler obvious.
