Question for a younger person who has played the game..

I'm fairly new to FPS's and I have a question. I'm playing on PS3, and there is a feature in this game called "Aiming Assisst". I have no idea what kind of assistance it's give me because I can't hit the broad side of a barn unless I'm not in combat. When I played GTAV, and hit the aim button, there was noticeable help in aiming. In this game I can't notice *any* help whatsoever. The game is beautiful and engaging, but it's very hard for a geezer like me. If someone could explain it to me, am I doing something wrong?

What a lonely post! Looks like the young uns don't want to pass on the secrets to us fogeys.

I don't recall any aim button on PC, iirc the assist was a spot or reticle on-screen showing where your weapon was currently pointing.

Thanks for the reply. I finally noticed that the aim assist does help, it's just not as noticeable with this game. Finished FC3, and then played FC4. I've got a PS4 now so I'm waiting to get FC Primal for cheap on Ebay. Geezers Unite!
