Debbie hit paydirt with Steven and Sandy. They are amazing and I really found myself rooting for them as a couple. I wonder if Debbie will go back to the Yellow Fever in general idea for a film?

I still feel only Sandy is staying just out of fear of the humiliation of returning to China single and divorced.
She seems so reluctant to even kiss him, and I know they've been together 4 yrs now! But I still can't imagine intercourse between them.
Yeah, if Steven made an effort, changed the way he conducted himself in social situations, got rid of the clutter in his house, lost a few pound, he could probably get more respect from Sandy. But as it is, they seem to have goine directly to 'old married couple' phase, where they behave more like siblings than sexual partners.

Chinese folks get married and divorced all the time----it's only a stigma and so-called humiliation in certain rural areas, I think---definitely not in the urban ones.
In the urban areas Chinese men are lucky to even get a good wife, as men vastly outnumber woman, only recently did they drop the one child law. And divorce is still shunned there, more so then in the west.
Many couples get together out of financial status than actual love, like western marriages are more based one, Sandy did after all go on the foreign date site, to get away from the stigma of Chinese views.
