why did sonu have to go to final deal place

For most part I enjoyed the move and the script was good too but i did not understand why did Sonu (Hashmi) in the end have to go to place where the gun delivery was being made. He gave the information to the ACP and thereby would have cleared his conscience what was the advantage in him going there.....

They wanted to catch the other party of the deal. As he said they didn't know where the delivery will be made and wasn't expecting the police to come there. The police came there because the captured gang member was killed by the corrupt cop and their plan changed. Sonu wasn't aware of this development and was doing his bit to find the lead.
