I liked it

First let me say that I'm a white male and not a comedian or in show business, so I really knew almost nothing about "Moms Mabley" I HAD heard of her and knew she was a black female comedian before my time, but that was about the extent of my knowledge.

I was genuinely entertained and enlightened by this documentary. Whoopi did a good job at painting a picture of a woman most people probably know very little about, especially considering there wasn't a lot of information available. We can conclude from watching this documentary, that she was a very smart, saavy woman who knew how to make the most of her talents, much different from the character she played.

We hear so much about Joan Rivers and Phyllis Diller paving the way for female comediennes but I think most of that credit should go to "Moms" ESPECIALLY when you realize she was a black performer in America at a time when blacks were considered inferior and not accorded the same liberties and chances as others. We also learned that she was hilarious!! I didn't expect a lot of her jokes to be as edgy as they were, even by today's standards, but they are. They're edgy in a GOOD way, not a mean or cheap way. She gets very relevant points across with humour and even if you disagree with her, you still love her because she's just a lovable person and comes across as harmless.

I hope a lot of people see this documentary. It's worth it.

Take care and GOD bless

You summed it up! This documentary was well done, and Moms will charm you even if (like me) you'd never heard of her previously. Entertaining & well worth your time.
