Hi M.J. Young. Thanks for posting this. I wrote and directed '41' and your article analysis is the most amazing thing I've seen written about '41 so far. So in depth with details. Everything you mentioned in your article are things we had spoken about during the writing process - so it's good to know someone is paying attention. Thanks for watching! -Glenn

Glenn Triggs--

Glad to have done it. One of my readers is apparently a fan, and pointed me your direction. It was certainly an interesting film, despite my problems with it temporally.

I can't speak highly enough of this little gem. Both as a fan and writer of science fiction, it's well constructed, well made, has good characters, messes with your head (and causality) and I certainly recommend it to all my friends.

I can see it becoming a cult classic in the next 5-10 yrs easily.

You made a cracker of a movie Glenn.

Great article and you made the arguments easy to read and understand. Just an observation; on the sign announcing "New Homes!" when Aiden arrives in his grandmother's newlywed time period, the year 1957 is in the lower right of the sign. I assumed that meant the period we were looking at was 1955-57.

Read through your article with pleasure. I'm not going to argue time travel logic as there are too many theories and too many many ways of looking at most.

But you have one very minor flaw that can be nailed down

Aidan visited his grandparents when they were newlyweds--maybe not newlyweds, but it seems they had not yet had their first child

If Aiden's grandfather was in his original timeline to die the next day at the very least they had already had Aiden's mother or father.

As I say extremely minor but I'm just happy to have something concrete to offer. 

Excellent work.

To me infinite universes, ever diverging and perhaps thousands of Aiden cycles of infinite Aidens in before the movie begins and we then follow this single thread in which the choices fall just right (as opposed to all the variants of this single thread in which things, like the hacksaw, don't wok out) is the only way my head can be happy with it. Especially when you add in at least one second interwoven traveler. As long as I don't think about it too hard. 

PS: While not a time travel movie I'd love to see a treatise on Coherence. It's one of those films of this ilk that has found continued purchase in my imagination.

When I have nothing to say, my lips are sealed. Say something once, why say it again?

Aiden visits his grandfather in 1957. His grandmother may be early in pregnancy with Aiden's mother. When grandfather dies in this timeline he leaves his wife a single mother. This timeline continues without interfering with Aidens existence.
