One of the strangest trailers I have ever seen

Did anybody else think the trailer was really . . . I don't even know what the most appropriate term would be . . . tone-deaf? Bipolar? Unfocused?

At first, I thought the film was a romance, then it feels like a horror film, then it feels like a suspense thriller, then it feels like a romance again. I don't know what the editors were going for, but the trailer was definitely a bit perplexing. Many people in the theater felt the same way; they all seemed quite puzzled about what the movie was.

I just watched it online and I have to completely agree--it was like the trailer didn't know what kind of movie it was. The music was very "horror movie music," though.

Well, not to give anything away but the original was kind of creepy and more about obsessive love than cute rom-com love. When I saw it on the main imdb page today I was like, "what??? they remade that weird 80s piece of crap?". I know everyone always says that Hollywood relies on remakes when they run out of ideas, but damn, they must really be out of ideas.

This looks absolutely horrible. It looks like a Lifetime TV movie, not a theatrical film. I can't believe I'm even saying this, but it looks WORSE than the original, which was a terrible movie in the first place. But really, it looks like a made for TV movie, and the casting looks AWFUL.

Amen to that.

I thought the trailer played like a parody. Really. I mean, right at the start we're shown a girl who is made up and dressed like a model, and then we're told that she's "spent the last two years with her nose in a book," with the implication that she has no social experience. I laughed. I think if you saw that on SNL, you'd laugh, too.

And I'm glad to say I'm not the only one who feels this way. The trailer screened before American Hustle, and when it ended, there was scattered laughter all throughout the theater. As in, derisive laughter.

Prepare your minds for a new scale of physical, scientific values, gentlemen.

Yup, caught the trailer in theaters this weekend. Totally made the transition to a slasher film then thriller and then… "oh, so it's not that at all?" Weird.

Yeah I thought he was going to murder her or something...

I thought the trailer looked kind of interesting and thought the movie would have some sort of thriller-romance vibe and then it turns out to actually be one of those silly teenage unrealistic cheesy movies. The trailer was better than the movie
