I enjoyed this movie. Give it a chance if you enjoy indie horror.

In the interest of fairness, I admit I'm way more lenient on horror movies.

I watched this movie not having much in the way of expectations. I love horror movies, and I definitely enjoy a good anthology format, so I figured I'd check it out.

On the surface, it's your typical multi-story formula. Over-arching background plot introduced to explain the showing of several mini-films. This one is a bit different, as each of the stories aren't the same length. I like this because it allows different type of stories to be told, without forcing them to conform to a certain length.

I was entertained by the features, although they fairly predictable. I give a lot of credit for doing period pieces, because in my opinion it shows the creator cared about what he was doing. He could have easily made it set in modern times and forgone the attempt to have accurate dress/props. Part of this I think was done to mimic the grind house style movies I think, but overall I liked the style of the filming.

The film seemed to wander a bit, and at some points I felt like I was playing catch up while I watched. Not that the script is confusing. It's all rather straight forward, but it just seemed like what was going on was a step ahead of me as a result of inconsistent pacing.

The acting was above par for this type of work. Part of this is because the surreal feeling of the features gave more leniency to the performances. It might not have worked so well elsewise.

That being said, I judge a movie by its ability to keep me in my seat, and not checking my email or something. And I was definitely interested in what was going on enough that I watched it straight through.

I Liked the penny segments but the films themselves where pretty bad. Annoying characters.

They weren't particularly strong, but they were unique and stylized.

At the end of the day, you have to lower your expectations when it comes to low budget horror. You KNOW what you're getting into, and I don't feel mislead.

Sure, there are some diamonds in the rough, but the bar is so low that those special few are particularly memorable, and I think that's a good thing.
