This movie was a pleasant surprise! It grabs you on the outset and becomes a very engrossing story! The visuals were outstanding! I loved the soundtrack as well! I felt this was in the realm of an updated Blade Runner with hints of pre-Skynet/Terminator. The brooding male lead played by Toby Stephens reminded me so much of a cross between a young Clint Eastwood and Hugh Jackman. I hope there's a sequel!!!
This movie was a surprise for me as well! I had seen the trailer months ago but I wasn't sure if the movie was going to be as good as the trailer... it was better! I was interested in it because of Caity Lotz and sci-fi is my favourite genre. The 6.1 rating on IMDb disappointed me, but I still watched it to make my own idea and I was blown away! I wasn't expecting a Blade Runner style movie at all, but this was totally it. The lighting, the soundtrack, etc. The whole thing was superb.
There's been quite a few movies across many genres that are rated higher on IMDb that I thought were boring, crap, or bad. Sometimes it's a bit frustrating to expect a movie to be good and then you realize it's not worth your time. I've learned to take IMDb ratings with a huge grain of salt when choosing which movies to watch. I wish I knew of another site where the movie ratings would be more akin to my tastes.
I thought the best thing was the score, which was strikingly early-mid 80s sci-fi. Everything was a recycled/remixed trope including stock characters, but the score stood out.
I agree. I loved the soundtrack. It definitely reminded me of an 80s sci-fi movie. I enjoyed the movie very much. Vincent was a dick though. Not a very likeable character at all. You get later on why he was acting that way, but he could have gotten his point across to Ava in a more effective way.
Woooord- its a great film, my parents lent it to me cause they said it was "actually really good." And they were right, its impressive- a much better depiction of what the film version of "i, robot" could have been, i like that film as well but its not as good as this one, but thats just me though
Agree, this movie was damn well done, I am so happy there is film makers doing a great job and putting in the effort to bring masterpieces. I hope they get recognition and make great future sci-fi movies.
