80's Throwback Soundtrack Score

Anyone else love the Carpenter-esque 80's synth soundtrack?! Not sure how many gamers will check this thread, but it reminded me a lot of Far Cry:Blood Dragon.

I loved the score! Very vangelis at times as well.

THE GUEST movie and soundtrack was better.

I was just going to post this exact thing. The score was a great 80s throwback with all the synthesizers. I loved it, I wish more movies nowadays sounded like this one.

Parts of it reminded me of the original Mass Effect(which is inspired heavily by 80's Sci-fi).

Both of those remarks are spot on to me. Having finally played through Blood Dragon only a few weeks ago, its atmosphere very much was still resonating a fair bit. I was reminded of it immediately. Also I'm a huge fan of John Carpenter's scores. I think The Machine pulled off that 80s sci-fi vibe beautifully without being cheesy or clichéd at all.

The synthwave soundtrack is an homage to the score for "Blade Runner".

I thought so too. I noted in a previous comment it had a bit of a Vangelis feel. Like a vamped up Vangelis. Really, really liked this movie ad the score is excellent.

I agree with regularfellow; the soundtrack is heavily inspired by Bladerunner. Both films have that ominous, slow building undertone.

reply

Yep I thought the whole movie had a 80s scifi vibe not just the soundtrack.

reply

Yup. Kickass sountrack!

The music stuck out to me like a sore thumb. Listening to the ending credits and it has that wonderful "heavenly" synth sound.

I have FC:BD, but haven't gotten to it yet since I'm still on FC3.
