Surprisingly good

I'm not going to get into the psychological or philosophical aspects of the film, because I don't feel like having my intelligence dissected, but I found this film incredibly made. I don't mean the production value, but in that it can appeal to those who want to watch it on a surface level or delve into what it is really about. Either way, it can be enjoyed by all. My one gripe and it is in fact a minor one, is Suri. She's really THE key character in the movie and I have to assume there are additional scenes on the cutting room floor. This may have been done intentionally as not to be too much of a red herring, but I tend to think it was simply a lack of vision.

I'll admit these types are not generally my cup of tea, but this one was good. I'm interested in seeing the much hyped Ex Machina now, for no other reason than to see how it compares and what angles it takes in exploring the relation between man and machine(s).

I loved The Machine and Ex Machina. They are very similar, too.

Thanks,

I read your statement here and decided to buy it.

At the end of the day it reminds me more of Universal Soldier than Ex-Machina which has a rather philosophical statement.

The Machine is, as I personally found, a very enjoyable action flick leaning on Blade Runner and Universal Soldier.
1 Million Pound budget, just wow! Enjoyed the soundtrack even.
And Caity ... indeed she's awesome :)

At least a much underrated movie, isn't it?

The lack of a budget is truly amazing. The finish product did look like a large budget production, but for me what stood out was the story. I would love to know if Ex Machina was written after seeing this. While Ex Machina gets credit as being "new," I found it very predictable and very generic. Strip away the attractive set and the story really falls apart. Whereas, The Machine is the opposite. Where Ex Machina looks at if we can create AI that can adapt, I think The Machine's idea of machine's realizing our limitations and single mindedness is even more interesting. Might watch them back to back one day and see how they compare.

Yep, great movie for what was essentialy $1.5 Million budget. It's great to watch stuff , alternatives to domestic movies. Not everything should be $200 Million carnival. We'd have very few movies if that was the case.

Restrepo (2010) Thank you Hetherington
