Amish in the military

I have never heard of such a thing. This would have been a nice family movie, and I like Michael Landon Jr, but it just seems wrong to use them as some kind of war propaganda. Nut this is Hollywood I guess. It is never just a movie. It is always advertisement for something. Next movie about Amish will undoubtedly be about one who is gay.

You don't see it as more of a plot device to explain what happened to him?

People leave the flock for various reasons. There is a famous movie where a pacifist fights in WWI (Sargent York). I think trying to glorifying fighting in that war (WWII was going on when it came out, but still, WWI is a lot less idealist) a bit worse.

Also, from what I saw, they didn't make it as war propaganda. It was a personal choice & Katherine's adopted father explained the Amish p.o.v. well.

ALSO, there are pacifists who serve as non-combatants. They believe that they still have a duty to serve their countries.
