Where this movie went wrong (SPOILERS)

Apparently this movie was not yet realised all over the world, so to thouse who still haven´t seen it, spoilers ahead.

Yesterday I saw this movie because, well I love the Beauty and the Beast story and loved the thought of a French-German high budget adaptation, and hey, this fairytale was born there, sure they know how to make a movie out of it.

....

Here are the parts that went wrong.

- Belle´s family makes no sense. Sure, in most of the tellings she has a bunch of mean siblings and a carring father, but here the brothers are too nice (especialy the second and thrd brother) and the two sisters are just a poor and stupid copy of Cinerellas step- sisters. In this whole unbalanced mess, you don´t see any characters
- why is everything around the castle green? Like, wouldn´t it make more sense for the beast to see how time goes?
- why is there no time limit for lifting the curse?
- Belle´s change of character makes no sense. One moment she´s afraid and the next one she´s like "*beep* ya, I´m the boss here"
- there is no reason for her to fall in love with him, they neather share any chemistry nor talk enough
- the wide-eyed creatures are stupid and pointless
- if there is a version that supports the Stockholm-sindrom theory its this one. He imprisons her, gives her nice dresses, she learns (but only while dreaming) that he broke the promise he gave to his girlfriend and thus caused her death and therefore became a beast, so she (Belle) decides out of nowhere that this are the reasons why he is her mister-right
- did I mention there is a bad guy? …. Thats it. There is no reason for him to even be in this movie, as he delivers nothing to the Plot
- Yvonne Catterfeld (a big name in Germany) probably only agreed to be in this movie because she could wear nice dresses ...and then die naked in the arms of a good looking guy
- did the Beast/Prince learn anything from his time with Belle? We will never know as the movie never felt like he should learn something
- the idea of Belle telling their later two children the story is beyond stupid. How does their good-night reading even begin? “Mommy, tell us the story about how this guy killed his girlfriend and how you therefore fell in love with him after he as a beast inprisond you.” (!!!!??????!!!!!)

I´m sorry for being so harsh on this movie, its not something I usually do, but this one just messen me up. I can see that a lot of money was put into it, but if a movie in the end gives you nothing. its not a good movie.
Maybe there is someone out there who got something from this movie, but for me there were just too few good things in it

In the version of the story I recall reading Belle's brothers were very kind. I don't remember her having sisters, but I'd have to read it again.

I actually only knew the version with her having two mean older sisters, but yes, one version states that there were two or three brothers too who wanted to kill the beast in order to get his riches

I agreed with most of your points, I sort of enjoyed the movie but a lot of things make no sense.

There is a time limit though, the Beast told Belle he would die if she doesn't come back the next day, and he would have been dead if Belle didn't admit it in the end.

True, the beast was an ass as the beast, and he was a liar and very abusive to the princess, there is really no reason for Belle to love him.

- the idea of Belle telling their later two children the story is beyond stupid. How does their good-night reading even begin? “Mommy, tell us the story about how this guy killed his girlfriend and how you therefore fell in love with him after he as a beast inprisond you.” (!!!!??????!!!!!)

This, indeed is weird as hell, telling your kids about giants crushing some men, lol. Not to mention she's telling bed time story when it's not even night yet. And when the kids said their goodnights I was like WTF? Then again, that could be the mis-translation since I don't know french.

Well, yes, you got me on that. In the original he tells her too to come back or else he´ll die, but.... it had nothing to do with lifting the curse, only... he´ll just die if she´s not around

True, the beast was an ass as the beast, and he was a liar and very abusive to the princess, there is really no reason for Belle to love him.

That is my biggest problem. They share practicly no coversation, and what she learns in her dream gives her freaking no reason to love him!

Giants crushing men is nothing strange in a de facto fairytale as they tend to be really dark (You know the witch wanted to cook and eat Hansel and Gretel?) and there is also nothing wrong with your french, I saw the German dub and it was a bed time story. I don´t know about you, but I´m used to that in quite a few countries in Europe children go to bed at 7 or 8 o´clock in the evening and if its summer it may still be bright : )

You seem to have this odd idea that the Disney version followed the book. Please actually read the 1740 novel. Most of what you are criticizing is FROM the original book, including the green around the castle, the brothers being nice while the sisters are obnoxious, there was never a time limit on the curse. That was invented by Disney.
