Thank you again, Netflix!

Nice show, once again some suit at some network/studio decided this didn't deserve the funding as a series, and instead we are given more shovelfuls of "reality" programming.

Why do they keep killing good shows before they get out of the gate?

If it wasn't for Netflix, we would never get to see half of these shows. I hope it bites them in the butt (kinda like Arrested Development and Firefly) when a cult following demands more.

I rather enjoyed this. It was kind of like a smart person's Terminator.

Agreed, it was very good and with a better budget could have been great. Such potential is always wasted.

reply

Sigh. It was never intended to be an ongoing series. It was a miniseries. Syfy makes them all the time. Nobody canceled it.

A mini-series with a cliffhanger?

It seems more like a pilot with a few episodes that were financed, but not picked up.

I mean, say what you like about the tenets of National Socialism, Dude, at least it is an ethos.

What cliff hanger? The brief reintroduction of the AI? That's not a cliff hanger, it's just a teeny question mark, introducing the idea that no matter what, there will always be the potential for AIs to rise up in the future. Movies have ended with bigger open-ends than that. A cliff hanger is when someone is metaphorically "hanging off of a cliff" and there is no resolution. Great and eminent danger to a key character.

And no, this was not a "failed pilot." It was intended as a miniseries, filmed as a miniseries, and released as a miniseries. It was planned, written, and produced by the folks who made all three of the stargate series. They wrote it to be a two-part movie, period.

It was pretty strong, all things considered.
