Alien Prequel Trilogy Cancelled

Fucking Hollywood. Prometheus was meh but Alien: Covenant got me onboard Ridley’s prequel passion project, but now it looks like the third and final film - which would have linked up David’s story to the first Alien from 1979 - has been scrapped.

Instead we’re getting a new reboot of the franchise (yawn) in the form of a film produced by Ridley but directed by some random, and a TV series produced by Fargo’s Noah Hawley. The latter could be decent given the awesomeness of Fargo, but none of this detracts from the frustration of Hollywood aborting a trilogy that was nicely taking shape.

PROMETHEUS IS COOL BUT SERIOUSLY FLAWED AND ALIEN COVENANT IS HOT TRASH...GOOD CHOICE PULLING THIS PLUG.

Good. Ridley was urinating on his original Alien movie and needed to be stopped. These films might have been ok had they not been written by complete morons.

I thought the two prequels were not that great as parts of the Alien story, but still interesting sci-fi films and I wanted to see one more part at least, even if it left me feeling the same. Very sad news it will not be happening.

I had been hoping to see what would happen to the ship and colonists, and how that alien ship ended up on LV426.

At least we've been able to have a series of audio dramas which have been quite interesting.

I agree with you. I like these movies as stand alone sci-fi movies. They fit as my favorite type of movie and scratch that itch very well. But as part of the alien universe lore, they stink.

Yeah I like them as nasty, visually sumptuous Ridley Scott sci-fi films, David’s story along with the mutagen black goo is fascinating and the creatures we see are wonderfully hideous. There’s a lot going for them.

I don’t really take them seriously as Alien prequels but now that we’re two films in and one film away from connecting it all to Alien they should finish the job instead of aborting so late in the day.

Stupid decision.
