This is the opening I wrote for Prometheus 2, "Paradise," in 2014

Wow, these topics and replies don't hold much text!

I decided to go with a linked version:

Beautiful script! Did you get any response from fox studios or even Ridley Scott?

Thanks! Covenant was already in preproduction when I wrote this, so I had no intent to submit it. I'm glad now that I don't have a true Prometheus 2 to contend with, because I have enough story content to finish writing the script. It will be one of three fantasy projects in my portfolio, one of which is a really solid rewrite of The Phantom Menace.

Greetings friend! I TOTALLY, ABSOLUTELY, WHOLEHEARTEDLY AGREE 1,000% w/you! As If you are a kindred spirit! I too was very intrigued about the true origins of man, as if SIR RIDLEY SCOTT had some extremely valuable insight, such as Leonardo Davinci did in his artwork and to continue with his clues in alien covenant! But yes, WHAT A HUGE MISSED OPPORTUNITY! I have seen the new movie and I kinda had a strong feeling that RIDLEY SCOTT was either giving in to the fox studios money making machine and to hell with potential of making the average human "smarter" by WANTING MORE INTELLECT of the greatest mystery of all mankind but only to satisfy human "savage beasts" that only want more, more, more thrasher killer movies that only dumb down the human experience! So basically, alien covenant is FRIDAY THE 13th part 51 in outer space? SADLY, the fans just want more of pointless beast killings of stupid sexy humans? Thank you, great friend for your wisdom and insight! Hopefully, RIDLEY SCOTT will somehow through divine miracle, hear from us enlightened fans that want more of the endings of Prometheus but I don't expect it at all! In a strange way, the engineers had a very strong case against humanity because all they want is more bloodthirsty killings, as if humans have no potential ever to grow in academia! Anyway, if alien covenant is a Major financial disappointment, do you think that RIDLEY SCOTT will learn his lesson and go back to a true sequel to Prometheus?

I feel the exact same way. He most likely told by his producers to make Covenant a generic Alien movie (and to add Alien back into the title of course).

HOWEVER, I find that Ridley managed to make Covenant a very symbolic movie. Even the name implies that this movie is nothing more than a contract (synonym of covenant) between Ridley and Fox... But the symbolism is quite interesting.

Prometheus ended with Shaw leaving to find out more about the Engineers. That was the storyline... And what exactly happened? We see David (a soulless machine) DESTROYING the Engineers, the core of the Prometheus storyline. Yes, it is symbolic of the true storyline being destroyed, and we only see it in flashback, thus it happened long before Covenant even started!

The other part of the Prometheus storyline, Shaw... She was also destroyed by the soulless machine long before Covenant started. Everything Ridley wanted to do with the story, he had to destroy, and he shows it to us, we get to see the soulless heartless machine destroying everything about the Prometheus story just to make way for another generic Alien movie.

It's a message from Ridley: "I was forced to do this. It's all because of a covenant/contract I have with Fox, a heartless corporate machine. I'm sorry."

On those grounds, I find it to be a very interesting statement. The movie is pretty dull, but the symbolism is powerful, something Ridley EXCELS at.

Thanks for your feedback, yes perhaps we are kindred spirits. I know plenty of others out there were disappointed that no true Prometheus sequel came about, but I hope to fix that!

=)

Thanks so much for your reply! Yes, your analogy is PERFECT in the symbolism! I HOPE that you can fix this mess that fox FORCED Sir Ridley Scott to do because they certainly LOST MILLIONS w/Alien Covenant! PROMETHEUS made ALOT OF MONEY and NOT EVERYBODY is going to like a popular movie! Even Star Wars is NOT loved by all!

Wow, that was interesting! Thanks for sharing. I want to know the rest of it! :)

Well-written and great concepts.

Thanks.

I know I have more of this stuff written down somewhere on my computer, but I'll toss out a few teasers for the rest of the script. FYI, I think I can combine my work on Paradise with the ideas I generated for my Metroid script to make an original sci-fi piece, tentatively titled "Human After All." I pitched Metroid to the producers who had the rights many many years ago, but they knew their studio wouldn't sign off on an unpublished screenwriter (who is still as yet unpublished but I've gotten so close! One of my scripts was going to sell but the plans for the movie fell through!).

So for Paradise:

-Shaw wakes up in a weird round room, with Commander Shepherd. The last thing he remembers, he and his team were poking around and started getting picked off by the deacon. He managed to get into another ship underground, to hide, and woke up an engineer. Shaw tells Shepherd that he must have gotten put into stasis and brought here to their homeworld, but she has no clue why.

There comes a point where they smell an odd botanical scent, and moments later they are falling in love and about ready to have sex, when their judgment takes hold and they realize they're being dosed with a chemical to trigger libido.

The room opens up like flower petals into what looks like a huge lotus flower, and laying on his side watching them is a huge engineer, posed like the reclining Buddha statue http://www.thaibuddhist.com/images/richpictures/reclining_01.jpg -- I actually work in iconography from every religion on Earth, to imply that the engineers inspired all of them.

-Engineers can extend their lifespans to great length by stopping telomere loss, but (and this is good science) doing so also causes them to continue growing. Thus, the largest engineers are the oldest. Slave engineers are not granted this, and live normal 1,000 year lifespans.

(gotta continue in next post)

Continued:

-David tells Shaw that the engineers extracted the "dark seed" within her and are toying with it (ominous!). The reaction of their bio-weapon to being gestated in a human is interesting, and this will of course end up leading to traditional xenomorphs.

-The engineers just love David and don't consider him threatening, so they pretty much let him do what he wants.

-David is likewise fascinated by the engineers' computer systems, which all have core CPUs that are not electronic, but are instead genetically engineered brain cells that specifically process data. This gives their computers a closer form of A.I. as well, but limited enough to not be conscious and thus to be controllable.

-The engineers eventually offer to augment David's neural processing with bio-computing elements.... And that is when things start getting really weird.

-David essentially becomes a monster after this, once he tastes true awareness. This part here has already been co-opted into a different script about A.I., but without the bio-computing and without an android.

Some really good ideas there mate. You should try and write a novel series out of it, see if a publisher would be interested in putting out a line of books following on from Prometheus.
