My review of Alien Covenant for those who are interested

Check it out guys if you enjoy reading movie reviews.

In all honesty, I enjoyed Alien Covenant more than Prometheus but I still didn't think it was a great movie. It was a more satisfying film because it gave me more of the Alien and Aliens feel although as a film, it doesn't stand up to those two but then again nothing in this franchise does beyond Aliens. I don't understand why Covenant dropped so hard this weekend, in my eyes it was a better movie.

Yes, it was better than Prometheus, but that is not saying much, and it still had unrecoverable stupidities that dragged it down.

Yea I cant argue against the unrecoverable stupidities but honestly I didn't think it was that severe in comparison to the last movie. Watching that one I was like Jesus Christ this movies a mess. It kept going back and forth on whether or not it was an Alien prequel until the very end. Covenant at least had me leaving the theater more satisfied.

You can't build on bad foundations is the reason MrBrown.

I quite liked A:C in comparison to Prometheus but Shaw's absence upset fan of Prometheus and many were already peeved off with the premise that Prometheus got made in the first place.

You only get one go at making a good impression and A:C managed to alienate the only ones who thought Prometheus was a worthwhile affair.

The reason is generational:

First off, baby boomers are flakes who are more fooled by marketing than any generation ever. My parents didn't even know there was an alien movie but go see every marvel and Star Wars film in a desperate attempt to seem cool. Because marketing.

Secondly generation x is obsessed with authenticity and has no interest in any sequel ever. They may sit through a marvel film with their kid. Maybe. But we are notorious complainers. I enjoyed the film but both friends my age did nothing but make fun of it afterwards.

Thirdly, millenials were introduced to alien as "alien vs predator". Hard to blame them for having absolutely no interest. The commercials seem like video game adverts to them. Of which they have thousands to choose from. Also, the type of millenial who has seen all the old ones, also has more than enough tech savvy to rip this film. I don't. But he does. Side note: there was a recent alien game for PS4 that is known as one of the worst games ever made. I guarantee that had an impact on an entire generation of wheelhouse viewers.

Fourthly, Tennessee had no good lines. That was their one hope. That actor can pull a type of audience but they literally gave him no good lines for me to tell my friends about. Instead they killed his wife. Same can be said for billy crudup who is a fine actor. You expect written dialogue to be somewhat more interesting than things we say to each other at the coffee shop. Not less. I can't believe how you waste a character like Tennessee. Has Ridley never met a good ole boy? They are hilarious without writing anything down. He had time to write a script and nothing? Nada? Zip? Zilch? It was glaringly obvious about half way through that the only one we were supposed to pay attention to was Michael fassbender. Every other character was written down.

How about Tennessee shouts "come get some!" And blows Michael fassbender into pieces with a giant shotgun!
