Sun-yi / Eun-joo Conversation

What do you think is the meaning of this conversation, especially Sun-yi's last comments? I thought it might be explaining how she's changed and why she hadn't gone back to the boy before, but there are other possibilities too of course. I'm curious what other people think.

Kim Sun-yi: Does he come from money?
Soon-Yi: I don't think so.
Kim Sun-yi: Then just have a little fun and dump him.
Soon-Yi: But he's so good to me.
Kim Sun-yi: Be good to him. Men love getting compliments. When you grow up you see things that you didn't used to see. Knowing more might seem good, but it turns you into a coward. It only happens once in your life, and it never comes back.

I think you're right, that she felt like she was a coward for not going back before. But the "does he come from money" part may have been a half-hearted joke, because afterwards, she said "Then be good to him." Or maybe it was just a way of testing Soon-Yi, to see if she really cared for the boy. I think she was basically telling Soon-Yi not to let go of the boy, to be honest. And that she wished she hadn't let go of Cheol-Sul. Does that make sense?
