The only guest that sort of threw Jerry off his game

Jim Carey. I watched them all, sometimes more than once, and Jerry Seinfeld always appears very confident, secure, and leads the conversation. However, the episode with Carey it seems that the roles of confidence were reversed.

Does anyone else agree, and wonder why that may have occurred?

Carrey is his own island. Even though he emerged via stand up, his work really wasn't typical brand.
Oddly, Carrey is probably the single guest (off top of my head) who is nearest eye to eye with Jerry's financial situation. Thus, the idea being a guest of Jerry's for the universe to witness is as big a deal as picking up the morning paper at the door. Carrey did seem to have the most fun & banter with fans as they went... though editing knows the truth from the rest.

Carrey is nowhere near Seinfeld financially. Carrey is at around 100 something million while Seinfeld is at 800 something. Also, I don't think their economic situation has any relevance in how the comedians deal with each other.

Something was going on with Carrey, that's for sure.

I thought that Youtube girl threw him off his rhythm. It was apparent Jerry really didn't know who she was so they didn't have any common ground. The fact that she was doing that annoying character the whole time meant Jerry couldn't just have a relaxed conversation with her like he does with the rest of his guests.

I couldn't watch past about 5 minutes of that episode. It was excruciating!

I really enjoyed the Miranda episode. Though it definitely was different to the rest. Because she was in character the whole time, it wasn't your typical conversation.
Jerry played along with it well though I thought, and seemed to enjoy it.

She was putting on an act. The only thing wrong was that Jerry isn't that used to playing the straight man role.

OMG, came on here to see what people said about the Carrey episode, didn't take long.

He is a WEIRD dude. I see why his career declined.

Jim Carrey is weird, and he absolutely threw Jerry off his game; I daresay he embarrassed him a bit. Seinfeld is far more of a conformist than Jim. Still, I like Jim Carrey. And he is a talented painter, I think!

Talking to Jim Carey is like talking to a herd of cats. You just kind of stand back and watch the madness. I don't think there was a way to interview Carey. Perhaps after he has been dead a few months...

He seemed to be trying to give him a chance at least.

I thought Amy Schumer was the one where he most wanted to just wrap it up. He didn't seem to enjoy her that much.

reply

Amy Schumer has not done much and she thinks she is the funniest comic in the history of the universe. Her ego has its own zip code.

I think Jerry was trying to be supportive of Jim, and Jim is kind of nuts it seems like. Not a good first episode, it made me not want to watch any more. I was pretty surprised at Alex Baldwin, he was funny and loose.

I only watched the beginning of that one. Carey was being so weird and making odd comments that I just turned that one off.

So far, Will Ferrell is the best one I've seen, Will cracked Jerry up a lot.
