Big Problems (Spoilers).

Without being long-winded, I saved the first season of Low Winter Sun to watch by itself after Breaking Bad was over. At first, I kind of liked it- the grittiness appealed to me, anti-hero main character, etc.- however, it only took about four episodes for me to begin to cash-out on the series. The biggest problem with Low Winter Sun, again, unlike Breaking Bad, is that it has a dumb main character. And when I say "dumb," that is what I mean. We are lead to believe that Frank would kill McCann on the suggestion of Geddes (whom Frank does not trust) because Geddes tells Frank that McCann killed his girlfriend (without proving this and finding her body). What? Seriously? A cop will just kill another cop and not need some more proof that the guy did the crime? And, on top of it all, when Frank does track down his supposed killed girlfriend, she tells him to get lost, she doesn't want anything to do with him. Some girlfriend and some relationship they must have had. Definitely worth killing for her (sarcasm). So, I saw all of this put together, I bailes on Low Winter Sun, just like a lot of people.

That is pretty ridiculous. The reason why homicide detectives are homicide detectives is because they ask questions weigh in reason and look over motive and evidence. If you told me Joe Schmoe killed my girlfriend I'd probably text her first before the blood tsunami began. You also have to remember that Frank has some sort of personality or psychological disorder, he stalks his ex-wife, threatens to kill himself and starts beef with people so while it is out the realm of reason I can see a guy like Frank killing a dude without evidence

The way the show started, I thought it was deliberately ambiguous about how Joe convinced Frank to kill McCann. Maybe I missed something. But I really liked the uncertainty about whether Katya was into Frank, or if he was just a trick to her.

It was my understanding, after having watched the entire series, that Katya only told Frank to get lost because she was still afraid that Geddes would fin her and kill her. [spoiler] and if you watched to the end, you know that she was right to be afraid.[\spoiler]

Oh man. Why did spoiler show up like that. I clearly don't know what I'm doing with the spoilers. Sorry if that ruined anything for anyone reading.

reply

It shouldn't be a problem. The whole thread is warned for spoilers.

I cashed out in ep. 4 too, as did Hitfix's Dan Fienberg. Started out with such promise, but they really fizzled.
