Richard Wershe Jr is serving a LIFE sentence for one *non-violent* drug charge he got when he was a minor (*17 years old*) back in May of 1987. Three years prior at the age of 14 yrs old Rick was recruited by the Federal Agents, DEA and the Detroit police to work as a teenage undercover drug informant. Free Rick Wershe!!!

You suck at links.

reply

Bump. This is interesting.

DaveyinDetroit, in case you're interested in appeasing people like ssmith01 who can't figure out out to copy and paste a link, here's how to make a link clickable: http://www.imdb.com/help/boards/markup

reply

Thanks I will try to make them clickable.

reply

Thanks again, ThreeIn10. Rick and I have been friends since we were kids so my interested in seeing his story (the truth) get out there is personal. He has been locked up for too long already.

reply

Of course I can figure it out. Why should I have to? He wants us to read what he posts, right? Make it easy. I can't be bothered cutting and pasting a dozen links on an iPad.

Turns out I didn't miss anything interesting anyway.

"Richard John Wershe Jr. is a political prisoner in America. The political component of his ordeal is local, it’s harsh and it’s vindictive.

Wershe, who grew up in Detroit, was sentenced to life in prison without parole for a non-violent drug crime committed when he was 17. The law was eventually changed to allow parole but that hasn’t made a difference for Wershe. He is Michigan’s last remaining juvenile non-violent drug offender, still behind bars after 27 years. Wershe, who has been described by a prison official as a near-model prisoner, was never charged with any drug-related violence, he was never charged with ordering any drug violence, he never operated crack houses, he was never charged with conspiracy because he never had a gang, he was never named as an unindicted co-conspirator in any narcotics case and he was never called as a witness in any drug trials. Yet, he’s been labeled a drug lord and kingpin." - http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2015/11/29/is-cocaine-legend-white-boy-rick-serving-life-for-busting-crooked-cops.html

Rick was NOT a part of the Best Friends nor was he connected with them other than one of their hit man Nate 'Boone' Craft tried to murder Rick on the orders from those connected to the Mayors office.

But thanks for your ill informed comments. Your ignorance is why I continue to get the truth out there.

Read my post and check out the links instead of making guesses and assumptions. Or don't.

So then...... an American boy locked away for a minor crime in America, seemingly forever. Shock/horror !! My guess is that there are still some people in authority who want him where he can't blow the whistle on them. Not like he was an angel, and not like Detroit is a model City regarding corruption.. actually it is a perfect example. Not like America locks away people without trial and tortures them or even locks away a black man in solitary until he is on death's door for decades, then kicks him out to die outside the prison walls in an hospital bed, most likely a completely innocent man. What makes your friend so special? God Bless America... leaders of the 'free' world....... more actually the leaders of most of what is immoral in the world of imperialism. At least he has your voice which he wouldn't have in Guantanamo. Good luck with your cause!

By the way.. Rick was recruited by the cops/Feds in 1984 as an informant in our East Side Detroit neighborhood because he knew the streets better than most because we had lived there for years. Unlike much of the criminal elements that were moving into our once nice, clean and safe communities. Rick was only 14 at the time he started working for the Government as a paid informant. He was shoot while working undercover at the age of 15 and almost died. The Feds put him in a hospital as a John Doe and told him to lie about what happen which he did.
A couple years later he was cut loose but continued to deal drugs for almost a year before he was busted with a few kilos of coke (at the age of 17 years). He was later convicted and sent to prison for life for that offense under MI's old Lifer Law.
I could get into the fact that Rick was dating the Mayor of Detroit's niece and the facts involving Rick's role in putting the Mayors closest friends, family and City appointees in prison but that stuff is in the links I posted.

Good luck with your combing of old articles and such. I talk to Rick weekly and trmw will be talking to a well known writer about Rick and his story.

More facts that reveal the level of power, corruption and lies connected to Rick's case. This crooked and corrupt drug dealing ex top cop in Detroit has been going out of his way to spew obvious lies about Rick to prosecutors and even the parole board (back in 2003). Why? Because Rick helped put many of his crooked friends (cops, city officials) in prison. Decades ago, Rick even helped expose Bill Rice's role in the murder cover up of a 13 yr old kid in Detroit back in 1985. Why the cover up? Besides the drug dealing murders were relatives of then (crooked) mayor Coleman Young. Why has this crook been allowed to spew lies about Rick for decades? Well now Rice is facing prison himself for worse crimes than Rick has EVER committed. Oh yeah the TRUTH is coming OUT!

This is more Detroit and more REAL than any TV show.

I can't believe he's still locked up. In the 80s there was that guy from Westland, Gary Fannon (something like that) who was convicted for life w/o parole for telling an undercover officer who to buy some coke from. They wrote about it in Rolling Stone, etc, and eventually he was released. There are big people behind Rick's imprisonment, seems like.

This also reminds me of "Little Nathaniel" Abraham, who murdered a stranger in cold blood at the age of 11. When he was released he was given a place to live, a car, clothes, a free education....and look what he did. Right back in jail. What I don't understand is why someone who sold cocaine as a minor gets a life sentence and someone who commits cold-blooded murder gets freed in six years with people throwing a sh*tload of money at him. WTF?!

reply

Actually, Abraham didn't get any of the things you mentioned---those were just rumors. He's still in jail serving time for the drug charge, I believe. He was staying with an uncle and trying to get back to school before was busted, though. White Boy Rick's case has recently been reopened after a series of reports about on WDIV Channel 4 in Deroit news---here's what's going on with it so far:
